Buku ini merupakan koleksi kertas pembentangan yang dikemukakan di dialog kesejarahan yang dikendalikan oleh Persatuan Sejarah Malaysia (bagi pihak Malaysia) dan Masyarakat Sejarawan Indonesia (bagi pihak Indonesia) di Johor Bahru dari 1-3 Oktober 2010, yang dihoskan dan dijayakan oleh Yayasan Warisan Johor. Pertemuan di Johor Bahru ini adalah yang ketiga dalam siri Dialog Membangkitkan Kolektif Kesejarahan Malaysia-Indonesia. Dialog pertama berlangsung di Jakarta dari 17-19 Mac 2009, dirasmikan oleh Presiden Republik Indonesia, Bapak Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhuyuno di Istana Presiden. Dialog kedua berlangsung di Tanjung Pinang di Kepulauan Riau dari 7-10 Oktober 2009, dirasmikan oleh Gabenor Provinsi Kepulauan Riau, Bapak Ismeth Abdullah. Dialog di Johor Bahru adalah yang ketiga dalam siri ini dan yang pertama diadakan di Malaysia, dirasmikan oleh Menteri Besar Johor, YAB Dato’ Haji Abdul Ghani Othman.
