Before the war began in earnest, the Cerulean Coven used its powers to raise their own people's realm into the sky, in the hopes of preserving it, that it might survive to guide any who remained below once the war reached its inevitable conclusion. Far from helping, the Sky-Realm remains distant and haughty to those scrounging to make a living on the surface, but despite the disagreeableness of its people, Ridley visits routinely to restock her supplies.

During one such rest-stop Ridley is intrigued to see a surface-dweller beseeching aid from any who will listen. After witnessing the young woman being mocked and dismissed, Ridley feels compelled to intervene and sets in motion a chain of events that will rekindle the spark of progress and see the peoples of Ilnar once again join in common cause.
