African American History was always interesting because an important part of it happened in the Civil War. My book will try and clarify many areas that will assist with a better understanding of what actually happened to the USCT. African American History was always interesting because an important part of it happened in the Civil War. My book will try and clarify many areas that will assist with a better understanding of what actually happened to the USCT. The writer will try and give a complete explanation of what made the USCT unique. This subject was made popular because of the Emancipation Proclamation, which created the United States Colored Troops. Even though it was created by President Lincoln, there were many obstacles to succeed and to fight as soldier. They were to be commanded by a white commanding officer and could not arise above the rank of sergeant. There are several Medal of Honor recipients from the USCT and the US Navy and a list of African American women that made a tremendous contribution to the Union Army. The Civil War couldnt have been won without the infusion of two hundred thousand enlistees of African descent.

Autorenporträt
He has researched the subject and has done presentations on African American History as a member of his neighborhood. The uniqueness of his experience makes him well qualified to present this book. He has a master's degree in education from State University of New York. He was born in Prichard, Alabama, and moved to Buffalo, New York, during his teen years. In 1957, he met Ann Wilson, and the next year they were married. Out of this marriage, they have three adult children. While working to support his family, he found time to return to school. He earned both a bachelor's and master's degree from the State University College of New York at Buffalo. During this time, he worked for various manufacturing plants, including the Ford Stamping Plant, and drove interstate for Grey Hound Lines-East. His determination landed him a job with the Better Business Bureau of New York. Later he moved on to the City of Buffalo Civil Service Commission, where he served as supervisor of recruitment. During this period, he served on the Affirmative Action Committee, which authored the City of Buffalo Affirmative Action Plan. He also served as an equal employment opportunity specialist for the Buffalo Board of Education and taught at Madille College as an adjunct professor and at Hampton University adjunct professor in the history department. In spite of his demanding job and family responsibility, he found time to involve himself in volunteerism. He served on many community boards. He was involved in the 1490 Enterprise and assisted in the acquisition of an unoccupied housing development and converted it in to a section 8 (202) program for seniors and disable low-income residents. He was an active member of James City County Lions Club for many years. He served as chair of the Annual Medgers Evers Award Dinner in Buffalo, New York. On October 31, 1997, he and his wife, Ann, retired (teacher) from the Erie County Sheriff Department, where he was the first assistant superintendent of the county jail. They relocated to Williamsburg, where she was elected to the Williamsburg James City County School Board and served as its chair for one year. While there, they developed a program called Parent Community School Connection Committee.
