Unknown Love is the journey of two people, Erin Johnson and Peyton Alexander, who want the classic fairytale but lack the blueprint for what to do when love gets real. After spending their first summer together, Peyton knew that Erin was her soulmate, even if it didn't seem like it at the time. Though they ultimately go their separate ways, Peyton is unable to forget about Erin.
After not speaking for more than two years, Peyton reaches out to reconcile with Erin. Uncertain of what to expect, they agree to meet in person one last time. When faced with an ultimatum, Peyton reflects on how her feelings for one person have impacted every choice she has made in love. After much fear and trepidation, Peyton and Erin make a decision that could change their lives forever.
Unknown Love counters the notion that stories of queer people of color are often suppressed or eliminated and that lesbian relationships evolve quickly. It highlights a community often hypersexualized or filled with traumatic interactions and shines a different light on what is possible. This book illustrates what it means to be in love, even when it feels hopeless.
