Then I saw that the Sufis included in their most famous books a chapter on fatwa in which they explained its meaning. Then I read Ibn Battuta's journey and saw him during his trip in Turkey praising the mention of the fatwa in it and explaining their respect for the guests and their treatment of one another. Then I was presented with the word fatwa in the modern era. All of this led me to research the fatwa and trace its meanings in different eras from the pre-Islamic era to today. Ahmed Amin
