Crimes of vendetta that occupied the Greek public opinion from 1920 until the end of the 20th century. Real vendetta cases that took place in Crete, in Mani but also in the rest of Greece, many of which shocked the whole nation. The book proposes a brief history of vendetta from antiquity to modern times, where the roots of the custom of vendetta are located. It examines how the unwritten law of blood started in Crete, the Cretan concept of vendetta is also explained with examples, and there is talk about revenge and blood feuds in Mani. Finally, other countries and regions where vendetta flourished are mentioned: Cyprus, Italy, Albania, Serbia, Spain, Corsica, etc. "I wrote this book to leave a legacy to future generations about the crimes of vendetta and to demonstrate the barbarity of this custom, which used to prevail in many areas of Greece, mainly in Crete and Mani. In Mani, everything indicates that this inhuman tradition, which devastated families, deserted whole villages, and sent countless victims to the ground, has finally disappeared, as it has also disappeared in the rest of Greece. On the contrary, unfortunately, in Crete it has not disappeared nor is it going to disappear - only if a government dares to take measures to remove all weapons from homes in Crete, and especially in the mountainous areas, and to punish exemplary those who carry weapons. Only then will there be hope to stop the bloodshed." P.S.
