Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensführung, Management, Organisation, Note: 2,0, Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) (Business Administration), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In the last years project management has become very important to all types of companies. Different tools, methods, and practices help companies to finish projects within the given time, budget and scope. Although the pressure and competition of global markets grow constantly, there are almost no relevant changes in the traditional network techniques which were first introduced over 50 years ago. Network techniques are the only available methods that are able to describe the complexity of projects in a well arranged way. In the following chapters the three main techniques (Critical Path Method, Program Evaluation and Review Technique and the Metra – Potential – Method) will be introduced and discussed. Dr. Goldratt, the founder of the “Theory of Constraints”, developed 1997 a complete new approach for managing projects. His solution “Critical Chain Project Management” is challenging, but if it is properly implemented, the performance and success of projects can be increased significantly. How to handle this approach correctly and how the basic project parameters have to change will also be part of the following Bachelor Thesis. The structure of the Thesis is developed in order to give the reader a deep insight of the key challenges in project management and how the different approaches face them. Afterwards, the most popular technique, the Critical Path Method, and the innovative Critical Chain Method are directly compared to gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental differences.
