This book covers recent developments and applications of advanced spectroscopic techniques to polymer chemistry and biochemistry. The first half describes how to apply static/dynamic FT-IR spectroscopies to liquid crystalline polyurethanes, measure stress and strain in single and multi-fiber components, and prepare high-quality ultrathin materials using the Langmuir-Blodgett technique. The second half provides experimental guidance for studying biomaterials and biopolymers using advanced methods such as attenuated total reflectance, IR microscopic imaging, vibrational circular dichroism, and step-scan time-resolved spectroscopy.
