Kill that wolf, gain XP. Do this quest, get a reward. But then the sky darkens. The beautiful world warps before the players' eyes... Plant life wilts... Low-level beasts collapse, howling in agony... The main city hub melts away, and in its place appears a macabre, hellish kingdom. High-level monsters invade the forests, while NPCs turn violent, and slaughter all in sight. Panicked, the players try to log out. But the button doesn't work. And no one is respawning. Pain becomes real. Death becomes real. On the outside, the logged in, die one by one, and communication from within the game ceases. A terrorist claims responsibility, and issues a single demand. The world's best gamer must enter DARK DAYZ and make it to the final zone. There they must challenge and defeat the hacker known as Z. Only then will the nightmare end. After a week of terror, someone steps up. One gamer is brave enough to enter the virtual hellscape. Zycuh Hunpo. He's won tournaments. He's won more money than he knows what to do with. But with zero friends, and a horrendous homelife, what does he have to lose? Zycuh believes he can do it. Get to the end. Take down Z. And become the greatest hero of the twenty-first century.
