Cecilia Steyn is in die Vrystaat gebore. Sy is nog altyd lief vir skilder en skets. Ná skool het sy in die apteekbedryf gaan werk, en sy en haar man, Johan, het twee seuns. Onder leiding van die skrywer Fanie Viljoen, haar broer en mentor, probeer sy op die ouderdom van veertig vir die eerste keer skryf. Haar eerste kortverhaal, Evan se pizza, het in 2015 in Vrouekeur verskyn, en kort daarna is Die meisie op die dak deur LAPA Uitgewers vir publikasie aanvaar. Wanneer sy deesdae nie lees nie, skryf sy. Sy geniet dit ook om haar hande vuil te maak en saam met haar man aan hul huis te help restoureer of in die tuin te werk.
