This book was translated into Arabic after its author published it in French in the year 1931. He included in this translation a brief history of the Coptic Orthodox patriarchs. Then he concluded it with the book (History of the Naval Monasteries) by Father Armanius Habashi Al-Baramawi. It became divided into five chapters according to topics. The first chapter is about Wadi al-Natroun and its outcomes. The second chapter is about the monks of this valley and their conditions before and after the Arab conquest. The third chapter is also about its monasteries. The fourth chapter is about the Coptic Orthodox patriarchs and their periods. The fifth chapter is about the history of the maritime monasteries. The author says: The reason that prompted me to write this book is that we have loved since our youth to visit the deserts of the Egyptian country, and the Western Desert had a large share of our travels. In it, we saw this wondrous valley and contemplated its effects. This drew our attention to what was written about it, its monks, and its monasteries. . So we studied it and extracted from it and from what we saw during our many trips through this book, so that these trips would not be devoid of benefit to others. The reader will see that we have narrated in it the biographies and stories of some of these monks and patriarchs, and here we want him to know that the trust in it goes back to those who wrote it down and we transmitted it from them, and that we only have the share of the transmitter.
