Franklin and Rhonda fell in love in high school. Franklin wanted to become a business man. After graduation, he worked full time nights at a factory and took college classes in the daytime. Rhonda felt that she was not college material. She would have been content to be the supportive wife of such a business man. She worked a dead end job during the day and partied at night. With such a conflict in lifestyle and goals, their love affair soon fell apart. However, while he could get her out of his mind, he could not get her out of his heart. Some years later, they would meet again, and love would blossom again. By this time Franklin was no longer a boy trying to find his place in an adult world. As for Rhonda, she was now the mother of an impressionable young boy named Ray. Rhonda kept the identity of her son's father a secret from everyone ... her son, her mother and Franklin. As the boy grew up, he yearned to know who his father was, and thus who he really was. Franklin recognized Ray's need for a father in his life. Because of his love for Rhonda, he also loved Ray, but she would not allow boyfriend and son to bond together. She was afraid that Franklin would leave her again, and she didn't want Ray to be hurt emotionally if that happened. This lead to further conflict between the two lovers. During this time, Franklin began to have strange dreams and visitations late at night by both the Holy Spirit and the Evil Spirit. He turned to Doc for help in understanding what was happening to him. Doc was the neighborhood guidance counselor. Everyone told him their story and everyone benefited from his spiritual guidance. Who is Doc? Only the Holy Spirit knows for sure. With help from Jesus and Doc's spiritual guidance, Franklin, Rhonda and little Ray-Ray would become a Godly family.
