Cyprus, 1974. The Turkish invasion deprives Katerina Chrysostomou, a young girl from Kyrenia, of her village, her home, perhaps even her father. Along with her twin brother, Michalis, they board a ship bound for Greece. They are accompanied by other children. Hundreds of girls and boys, without parents, without other family members, head towards Piraeus with the hope of a new life, aiming to be hosted in institutions and families and to grasp the thread of a peaceful life again. Katerina and Michalis find themselves in a country they only know from books and stories. However, life has more surprises in store for them.
