Two ten-year old boys and a nine-year old girl meet in Denver during the 1952 Huckleberry Finn fishing contest at Washington Park. They become fast friends and soon discover a cave in a nearby swamp that becomes the focal point for a summer of adventure that ends with a tragedy and a miracle! The three friends go their separate ways in life but reconnect, again in Denver, thirty-three years later. The girl, now a woman, hears Dr. Morris Massey advance the thesis: What you are is where you were when you were ten. She shares this concept with her old friends at their reunion and, as their lives intertwine again, they experience an even worse tragedy and a greater miracle! This exciting and fast-paced tale serves to validate Masseys theory for the reader. It also prompts worthwhile introspection, not only of ones own life, but the lives of those ten-year olds who may come under our influence.

Dennis Floyd is a native of Denver where he continues to live and write. After graduating from Regis High School, he attended the Colorado School of Mines, earning Professional, Masters, and Doctorate degrees in Metallurgical Engineering. His professional career centered on the metallurgy of radioactive and non-ferrous materials, initially as a research and later as manager of a large R&D department. He co-founded a firm that recycled these materials into new products and, after selling that firm, established an environmental clean-up firm which he ran until his retirement. An author of three previous novels, all published by Xlibris, he finished this novel while participating in a writing group that meticulously reviewed the work as it progressed. Dr. Floyd is married, has four children and seven grandchildren. He is a member of the Colorado Authors League, the American Society for Metals, and convener of the Denver chapter of ROFTERS, a group that reads the magazine First Things and meets monthly to discuss it. An avid golfer, he is considering golf as the topic for his next novel.
