Some may think that autobiographies are boring and may not want to read them, especially if it is about someone who is not famous. I can assure you that Where Grace Abounds is not a typical story. It is the story of a woman born in a small and remote island in the Indian ocean to an average family who succeeded in moving from her parochial background to go places, earn two post-graduate degrees in two distant countries, and live in diverse cultural settings, as student and teacher, and then entered the world stage as an academic who achieved recognition.
During her life journey she experienced many challenges; first when she went to England to further her education, accompanied by her husband and two very young children, to face loneliness living among strangers, as well as endure severe weather conditions and poverty. She also braved trials when she travelled to Australia for her doctoral studies leaving behind her family and living in student accommodation, facing loneliness. She took up teaching in Nigeria, going there without her husband but accompanied by her children and faced an alien culture and their unfamiliar way of living. The many challenges she experienced were the scarcity of essential amenities, near desert weather conditions and failing health. But through all the many changing scenes of life God's grace sustained her and ultimately transformed her ordinary life into something remarkable. This book will interest all irrespective of age, ethnicity or faith.
