E-cigarettes and the potential harm to users have become a prevalent public health problem in the United States especially among adolescents and young adults. To effectively address this emerging issue, a comprehensive, up-to-date understanding of why college students vape, who are prone to vape, and any external factors that prompt them to vape is necessary. This e-book, Who Vapes? Correlates of E-Cigarette Use in U.S. College Students, is the first publication that explores common reasons and related factors for e-cigarette use among college students in the United States that have been identified in research published during the past ten years (between January 1st, 2010 and August 31st, 2019). It summarizes findings from existing studies and discusses motives and correlates of vaping at multiple socio-ecological levels. This collective information is a valuable resource for public health professionals and policy makers who focus on diminishing the popularity of vaping among emerging adults to identify at-risk populations and to develop effective strategies including preventive interventions and health regulations/policies. Several key features of this new publication include 1) up-to-date research-based information from studies published during the rise of e-cigarettes; 2) adopting the socio-ecological model to comprehensively explore factors at the individual, interpersonal, and environmental levels; and 3) extensive information on 3 measures of vaping including general vaping, vaping substances other than nicotine, and cigarette and e-cigarette use status.
