(W)hole is the story its author never intended to tell. It's a hero's journey through gender and the consequences of striving for self-actualization. This compilation of poems puts transition on display as a life-long journey of love, learning, and relationship-building, compared to the overnight switch-a-roo made famous by Caitlyn Jenner. While many trans narratives share similar story-arcs, (W)hole only represents the experiences of its author. The book is split into three sections, separating the author's experiences into distinctive time periods in her life. It explores the duality between feeling whole and longing to fill a void (hole). More than anything, (W)hole is a story about learning to love yourself, and the lengths to which some people must go to do so.

Autorenporträt

Em Moratto is a poet, author, and songwriter. In 2018, she wrote a dystopian mystery novel that was not very good, so now she mostly writes poetry and short fiction. That being said, her poetry is dope. Her favorite movies are Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Knives Out, and Clue. She lives in Denver, CO with her wife, Kelly, and their cat, Tia (named after the British drag queen, Tia Kofi).

She loves piña coladas but is less keen on getting caught in the rain.
