Marigold lives with a large group of wild ponies in a beautiful meadow near the seaside. Although she is a very kind pony, none of the other ponies include her, nor are very nice to her. This is all because Marigold is different.

But then one day, a nasty little troll named Jimmy threatens the community of ponies! He says he will cast a magic spell on the ponies, turning them into tiny creatures for the trolls to ride, unless they leave the area so that the trolls can build their own kingdom there!

Afraid of Jimmy's magic, the ponies, believe they have no choice, but to leave- until Marigold steps in, surprising everyone (and most of all herself!)
