A series of gripping short stories based on actual, often dangerous, African bush and ocean animal encounters. Some frankly too close for comfort. Michael has travelled extensively throughout wild southern Africa with his family, mostly in their trusty Land Rover Defender, Schalk. This is a collection of twenty three of their most memorable experiences, written with lashings of good humour, set in stunning wilderness locations, and packed with fascinating wildlife insights. Wild Life Shorts is a must-read for all serious wildlife or outdoor enthusiasts, or anyone who is simply passionate about the southern African bush and Indian Ocean.

About the author

Michael studied a Bachelor of Arts degree at Rhodes University after which time he joined a large, US-based, multinational corporation. He started his career working in the field of Industrial Relations and then quickly worked his way up through the ranks within the organisation, ultimately becoming Managing Director. He spent almost two decades working in an executive capacity, of which the last eight years were based in Belgium, working throughout Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. He now lives in Cape Town with his wife, their two children and Schalk. His first book titled To the Wild, published in 2018, is a detailed, photographic, journal-style account of their epic 100-day overland family adventure through southern Africa; a wonderful blend of Michael's biggest passions, namely photography, off-road adventure, wildlife and cooking.

Michael studied a Bachelor of Arts degree at Rhodes University after which time he joined a large, US-based, multinational corporation. He started his career working in the field of Industrial Relations and then quickly worked his way up through the ranks within the organisation, ultimately becoming Managing Director. He spent almost two decades working in an executive capacity, of which the last 8 eight years were based in Belgium, working throughout Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. He now lives in Cape Town with his wife, their two children and Schalk - their trusty Land Rover Defender. His first book titled "To the Wild", published in 2019, is a detailed, photographic, journal-style account of their epic 100-day overland family adventure through southern Africa; a wonderful blend of Michael's biggest passions, namely photography, off-road adventure, wildlife and cooking. In his second book, 'Wild Life Shorts' (2021) he has shifted theme slightly, writing a series of engaging short-stories based on some of his many actual, often exhilarating, wildlife encounters. In 'Wild Life Shorts' he focuses on entertaining story-telling, while also incorporating fascinating insights into southern Africa's magnificent wild creatures.
