This book is a translation of a number of women poets in early Islam and the Umayyad era, and it is an important reference for what has come down to us about women's poetry. The author has elaborated on what was reported about some of them through their biography and the situations and contexts in which they composed poetry. Sometimes the poet debates with a poet, and sometimes she satirizes them. Another, or lament a husband or son, and praise a caliph or ruler in another place... and so on. This confirms the role of women in Arabic poetry, and the talents and subtle meanings that distinguished them. Some of them surpassed the poets of her time and enjoyed an important position among her contemporaries among the poets of her time. The author of this book is Abu Ubaid Allah bin Muhammad bin Imran bin Musa Al-Marzbani (died: 384 AH), a widely educated scholar with extensive knowledge of narratives and Arabic dialects.
