Joshua B. Freeman is a distinguished professor of history at Queens College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He is the author of Working-Class New York (The New Press), American Empire 1945-2000, and In Transit, a co-author of Who Built America?, and a co-editor of Audacious Democracy. He lives in New York City.
