Swedish national Bertil Lintner embarked on a career as a free-lance journalist in 1980 and soon established himself as an authority on insurgency in Burma. He now contributes to a number of publications in Asia and Europe and contributed regularly to the Far Eastern Economic Review in Hong Kong, until its demise in December, 2009.
