Karen Rivers was born on 12 June 1970 in Nanaimo, British Columbia and grew up in Victoria. She studied writing at the University of Victoria and earned a B.A. in international relations in 1991 from the University of British Columbia. Rivers lives in Victoria. She is the author of books that have been nominated for national and regional prizes/
