When they move from Chicago to a smaller, safer town, Yolonda is scornful of her new school, and her brother Andrew is having trouble learning to read. All he likes to do is play the harmonica given to him by his father to teethe on. Yolonda knows that's the way he "talks", and she's convinced that Andrew has a true musical gift.
