I have read this story about ten times, and I most likely will read it and read it, and I have found in it and will always find pleasure in the mind, heart and taste. If I present it to the readers, I have favored them with what I have favored myself, and no one who has treated you wronged has done you any wrong with himself. Voltaire wrote this story when the eighteenth century was about to reach the middle of the year 1748, and he spent a great deal of effort and resourcefulness to print it outside France, and to publish it in France after that, and to resume its printing in France, were it not for the lack of time, and I am in Paris busy with what a person is occupied with when he finds out about Paris to reside. He lived there for a short time, and he left it after that. If it were not for this, I would have told the readers about Voltaire's effort and trickery in publishing this story, and then about his denial of it and his disavowal of it. For fear of causing evil to him, there is a lot of humor and entertainment in it, but I hope to return to all of this soon. Taha Hussien
