Many years ago, when I began writing a series of articles about espionage in the Egyptian Al-Shabab magazine, many advised me to collect these articles in a book that would become a hearty meal for all those interested in the world of espionage and intelligence. But I did not feel at that time that I had done enough to publish such a book. After several years and more than a hundred articles, I realized that publishing a book like this had become inevitable. When I realized this, the articles had reached a point where it was impossible to fit within the cover of one book. You need a series of books. Therefore, I decided to start publishing such a series immediately. A series that collects everything published in the Egyptian Al-Shabab magazine, including "Pages from the History of Espionage." However, it does not publish the articles in their order, but rather in a way that collects articles on specific selected topics, or on one related topic. It was natural for the first book to collect a collection of articles on intelligence operations before and during the great October 1973 war. With this first book, I extend my thanks and greetings to my teacher, Mr. Abdel Wahab Mutawa, who gave me the opportunity to present these works in (Al-Shabab) magazine. And to Professor Hamdy Mostafa, who was keen to publish it and present it in the best form that suits the Egyptian and Arab reader. And to the men of Egyptian General Intelligence, for their cooperation, interest, sacrifices, and permission to publish heroics that remained under the framework of absolute secrecy for a long time.
