Welchen Einfluss haben Erzählungen oder auch bloßes Geschwätz auf Wirtschaft und Börse in einer Zeit, in der Internet-Trolle in der Politik Einfluss auf Wahlen nehmen wollen? Dieser Frage geht Robert Shiller, der für seine Forschungen in der Finanzökonomik den Nobel-Gedächtnispreis für Wirtschaftswissenschaften erhalten hat, in seinem neuen Buch nach. Nicht zuletzt fragt er sich, welche Rolle Medien in der Verbreitung von Narrativen spielen, die an den Finanzmärkten zum Zyklus von Boom und Krach führen. Die Vorstellung, dass die Kurse von Technologieaktien eigentlich nur steigen können, ist natürlich absurd - aber wie viele eigentlich vernünftige Leute hatten dies zwischen 1997 und 2000 verdrängt?
