"The Birthday of the Infanta" is a work by the Irish philosopher, aesthete, writer, and poet O. Wilde (1854–1900).
The tale was written in 1891. Wilde's sons, Cyril and Vivian, became little inspirers for the novice storyteller. Later, in 1888–1891, all the stories were rewritten and collected into two collections - "The Happy Prince and Other Tales" and "The House of Pomegranates." Wilde's fairy tales are loved by readers all over the world and appeal to people of all ages. These touching, sad, and funny stories make you think about such eternal concepts as good and evil, love and friendship, devotion and compassion. Before you is the best of the writer's creative heritage. The works that give the most complete idea of his bright, multifaceted talent are elegant, ghostly-poetic "symbolist" tales. They glorify the beauty of good deeds, sympathy for the offended, and humanity.
Wilde also wrote the following works: "The Prince and the Swallow," "The Puffy Rocket," "The Selfish Giant," "The Young King," "The Millionaire Model," "The Sphinx without a Riddle."
