Bulgakov's play "The Crimson Island" was written based on the same name satirical feuilleton. This brilliant political pamphlet reflected everything
events taking place in Russia, starting with February revolution. Using the characters' names works of Jules Verne and Kipling, author masterfully wrote down the most striking political figures of that time with his characteristic inimitable sarcasm. It is not surprising that during Bulgakov's lifetime the play was not published.
