Tatsächlich gibt es nur wenige Werke der Musikgeschichte, die seit ihrer Uraufführung auf eine fortwährende Aufführungstradition zurückblicken können. Bearbeitungen von Mozart über Massenbesetzungen mit Becken und Tam-Tam bis hin zum Soul-Oratorium zeugen von einer ungebrochenen Faszination und dauerhaften Aktualität - und doch gilt: Nichts reicht an die Freude an einer überaus gelungenen Einspielung der Originalfassung heran wie sie uns Vaclav Luks mit seinem herausragenden Collegium 1704 hier präsentiert.
