So Leute, jetzt wird's True: MARAUDER aus Griechenland veröffentlichen mit "Elegy Of Blood" ihr fünftes Album. Wenn auch der Begriff True Metal eher einen negativen Beigeschmack hat (zumindest bei mir - ich sehe vor meinem geistigen Auge Legionen von fellgewandeten, Schwertschwingenden Barbaren
vorüberziehen, die außer großen Gesten und noch größeren Worten wenig zu bieten haben), trifft diese…mehrSo Leute, jetzt wird's True: MARAUDER aus Griechenland veröffentlichen mit "Elegy Of Blood" ihr fünftes Album. Wenn auch der Begriff True Metal eher einen negativen Beigeschmack hat (zumindest bei mir - ich sehe vor meinem geistigen Auge Legionen von fellgewandeten, Schwertschwingenden Barbaren vorüberziehen, die außer großen Gesten und noch größeren Worten wenig zu bieten haben), trifft diese Bezeichnung in ihrem ursprünglichen Sinne voll und ganz für Marauder zu: kraftvoller, ehrlicher Heavy Metal; laut, schweißtreibend, ohne Schnickschnack direkt auf die zwölf. Besonders hervorzuheben ist Sänger Alexandros Kostarakos mit seiner mächtigen Stimme, der bereits beim Opener "The Great War" überragende Akzente setzt - Ähnlichkeiten mit Rob Halford zu "Crucible" Zeiten sind nicht wegzudiskutieren. Leider hinken allerdings die kompositorischen Fähigkeiten dem überragenden Gesang etwas hinterher. So können zwar Songs wie das bereits erwähnte "The Great War", "Warrios", "World War II" oder die obligatorischen Ballade "Mother" (nein, diesmal ohne kriegerischen Absichten im Songtitel) ohne wenn und aber Punkten, allerdings fallen die übrigen Songs deutlich ab. So sind z.B. "Roman Empire" oder "Crusader" nichts sagend, tausendmal gehört und kommen einfach nicht zum Punkt, und "Alexander" strotzt geradezu vor Pathos, überzogenen Chören und Tralala-Melodien hart an der Grenze zur Peinlichkeit. Sehr schade; mehr Songs im Stil von "The Great War", und das Album wäre der absolute Hammer. So aber kommt es mir vor, als ob MARAUDER bereits beim Opener ihr ganzes Pulver verschießen würden.
