Seit jeher hinterfragen Menschen nicht nur die durch Religion und Gesellschaft auferlegten Grenzen, sondern durchbrachen und definierten diese teilweise immer wieder neu. Gemeinsam mit dem Pianisten James Baillieu spürt Benjamin Appl der Relevanz nach und spannt dabei einen weiten musikalischen Bogen von einfachen Volksliedern zu den großen Kunstliedkomponisten. Die Metapher der Verbotenen Früchte bietet den beiden außergewöhnlichen Musikern eine breite Palette von Interpretationsmöglichkeiten.
