D. Blackshear's childhood was spent mostly in Southern California. His family moved often during his early school years. He is the second oldest of six boys. Active in theater, since middle school, he wrote his first stage play in the 8th grade. Between then and now, D. Blackshear has written many works, including poetry, scripts for television and film, and has also appeared on network television programs. He attended San Diego State University and CSU Dominguez Hills. He has one child, a daughter, who is the proud graduate of Stanford University, and Columbia Graduate School in New York. Although he travels often, D. Blackshear lives in beautiful southern California.
