Autorenporträt

John Cleese was born in 1939 in Weston-Super-Mare. He studied Law at Cambridge University and has a successful career in comedy, theatre and film and television. He attended Robin Skynner's therapy group in the mid-seventies and encouraged him to make his knowledge and techniques available to the wider public.

Fans of Cleese´s comedy series Fawlty Towers will enjoy the texts of three classic episodes: "The Germans", "Communication Problems" and "Basil the Rat". Of course, reading a play is never as satisfying as seeing it performed, and Cleese´s maniacal antics cannot be reproduced on paper. Even so, I frequently found myself laughing out loud. "The Germans", which first appeared in 1975, was seen as unsuitable for German audiences because of its references to the Second World War. It has only recently been dubbed into German and has rarely been seen here in its original version. Spotlight
