First Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi, began in 1838 and thus has a long ministry serving the city and the people of central Mississippi. Just as people were the focus of Jesus' ministry, so it is today with First Baptist Church. Located across from the Mississippi State Capitol, their focus is telling people everywhere about Jesus. In 1978 the opportunity arose to do international missions at home-and Friend-to-Friend International Ministry began. Since then, the week-day ministry has continued, and in 1982, an international Sunday school department was formed. For forty years, people from all parts of the world have found a safe place at First Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi, to make friends, learn about America, practice English, and come to know Jesus.
