A certified elementary-school teacher in the state of Louisiana, Dartez worked as a teacher in New Orleans for many years. She is a popular presenter at schools, libraries, conventions, and other organizations, giving lively lectures on New Orleans and Louisiana. As a licensed New Orleans tour guide, she has led walking and riding tours throughout the city and at neighboring plantation homes. Dartez's other books include Jenny Giraffe's Mardi Gras Ride, Jenny Giraffe Discovers Papa Noël, Jenny Giraffe Discovers the French Quarter, Jenny Giraffe and the Streetcar Party, and The Louisiana Plantation Coloring Book, all published by Pelican.
