Fathoming the Mind (eBook, ePUB)

ausgezeichnet

Alan B. Wallace has developed his insight tremendously the last 15 years. From being the onsite translator for Tibetans and a writer about the convergences between scientific methods and Tibetan Buddhist’s science of mind, he has developed a great insight in the most advanced parts of the Tibetan Buddhism. He has translated Düdjom Lingpa, one of its ingenious and lucid proponents, in the most straight forward and simple ways.
This is an alone standing book, which will suit some people right from the start. Others might get more gain from the previous book in association with this: Stilling the Mind: Shamatha Teachings from Düdjom Lingpa's Vajra Essence. Traditionally to quiet the mind comes before Inquiry and Insight, but Düdjom Lingpa is far from traditional in the strictest sense. Just see at another title of his which Alan B. Wallace has translated: Buddhahood without Meditation.
But even though Düdjom Lingpa does not seem to recommend getting callous skin on one’s buttocks (from ceaselessly sitting meditation), as Milarepa the Tibetan saint, did, he is not vindicating any shortcuts. Maybe Düdjom Lingpas way is simpler for the Western people, but one’s determination still needs to convey the real kind of ardour, or confusion will continue creating blockages on one’s way, anyway.
