William Smith lives in retirement in Wiltshire. He read theology at St Peter's College, University of Oxford, where his interests in medieval liturgy, hagiology and monastic history first began. His publications include articles in these fields and a book, The Use of Hereford, The Sources of a Medieval English Diocesan Rite (Ashgate 2015, from 2017 Routledge).
