There are very few people in this age who can say they have remained untouched by cancer. If you haven't had it yourself, you probably know someone who has. For those of you who have had cancer, this book was written to let you know you are accepted and valuable. For those of you that are supporting a loved one or friend through cancer, this story will help you understand their needs mentally as well as physically, and to accept them as they are. With all the talk lately about being a survivor, I feel I have earned the right, more than many, to be awarded that title. I have battled cancer four times and defeated it. Each time I dealt with it, I learned to become bigger than the disease and to move beyond it, against tremendous odds. I learned that conventional coping mechanisms had negative results on both me and everyone around me. There is a way to truly live while enduring cancer so that the results are positive, regardless of the prognosis. A physician once told me that I have been able to achieve a mindset that we had only read about. This is my road to that mindset.
