In the aftermath of an incredibly difficult year marked by a variety of losses, a visually unique and inspiring new book provides non-traditional strategies for coping with and processing loss. Grief Reimagined: 50 Creative Strategies to Build Resilience weaves together dozens of true stories of personal loss with creative methods of healing, ultimately achieving a heartfelt and colorful narrative on the complex topic of grief. Kortbein, an art therapist, and Tyink, a counselor and hospice social worker, have worked for many years in a variety of settings, helping others navigate the often confusing and turbulent emotions that frequently accompany grief. Grief Reimagined emerged from interviews with over seventy individuals which revealed the unique and creative ways to created meaning from their loss. Organized into four chapters: - Alone: Personal Ceremonies - Together: Connecting with Others - Creative Tools: Art, Music, and More - Integration: Living with Grief Accompanied by cherished photos and colorful imagery, these fifty true stories are guided by strategies and applications to help the reader discover opportunities to create meaning through the often unexpected and tumultuous process of grief. Rather than providing a guide to loss based on theory, the stories take one on a journey of awakening, encouraging the reader to identify and apply coping activities and rituals to cultivate resilience and find meaning through loss. The short and inspiring stories are bite-sized nuggets of inspiration that cover a variety of types of loss including: departed loved one, pet loss, moving, transitions in life, retirement, physical loss due to illness or medical conditions, loss associated with trauma, loss of freedom, loss of culture, emotional losses, and a variety of other losses that are part of the inevitable cycle of life. This book will be a thoughtful gift of self-care and comfort for yourself, for anyone supporting others through their grief, and those who are curious about creating a more meaningful life after loss.
