The decision to introduce distance courses is often made in the interests of students or educational institutions but it is the teachers who implement the changes and the success or failure rests upon what they think and do. Research was undertaken to look at the perspectives of a group of teachers as they negotiated their part in implementing a new strategy for delivering course content. The research identified the teacher s present workload was their greatest concern. Without time to learn about the technologies and the implications for pedagogy, teachers will be unable to deal with the complexities of change.
