In environmental decision making and top positions, women remain behind the scene. Even where they are present, they are symbolic and not substantive representatives. There is need to have women incorporated and integrated into environmental decision making and in top positions. This will allow policymakers to utilize and capitalize on their uniqueness and experiences with the environment; hence, resolving environmental challenges. Environmental problems are interlinked, and therefore, solving one problem and neglecting the other does not better the situation. A holistic approach that adopts a gendered perspective will be mandatory if solutions are to be reached. This will bring women on board, recognizing their special relationship with the environment, and hence with security.
