A joint venture is a form of relational contracting that involves the collaboration of organisations, to join forces and work towards common objectives in a certain market. This form of business agreement is emerging in the mining and resource industry due to the benefits of shared risk, enhanced skills, resources and knowledge and the competitive advantage that it may give over other organisations within the industry. This research document provides insight into key attributes of successful joint ventures in the mining and resource industry. Investigation was conducted with current industry professionals within the mining and resources industry of Western Australia. The journal researches a field that is not covered to a great extent by other research documents and therefore provides new insight for mining and resource professionals worldwide.
