In January 2003 the Kenyan government implemented Free Primary Education (FPE). The launch of the programme saw an increase in enrollment in primary schools which put pressure on learning resources. The FPE policy envisaged that the government would provide teaching and learning materials to all public primary schools that posed a challenge on the management of the learning resources. The purpose of the study from whose findings this book originated from, therefore was to evaluate FPE policy on the utilization of learning resources in Bungoma East District of Bungoma County. The book discusses the findings of the study that established the attitudes of the stakeholders; assessed how the resources are evaluated for effectiveness of the instructional process, teacher preparedness and difficulties experienced in implementing the policy on acquisition and utilization of resources in primary schools. This work originated from the masters degree thesis at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
