Cha-Ching means "Hello, nice to meet you" in the world of currency. This book will introduce you to the Coin family who are excited to explore their new home in Moneyville. Tony, LooAnny, Quartz, Diamond, Nico, and Penny all have a place in this blended family. But settling in takes a turn for the worse when Doge, the family dog, goes missing. Penny, the youngest of the Coin family, will do anything to find Doge. With all the sights and smells coming from the Coinaval in town, it's a good bet that's where Doge is off to! Penny has to be careful because there's a no-good counterfeit bill in town. Will Jake the Fake pull off his latest coinspiracy? Will Penny and her family find Doge before it's too late? And what about making friends in this new town? Cents of Humour is a funny, action-packed book that introduces children to different types of currency. Parents can read along with their kids and discuss some terms of currency, ways how money was and is used, and the fact that Canadian pennies are no longer minted because they cost more than a penny to make. The story also opens discussions about debit, credit, crypto, inflation and counterfeiting.

Autorenporträt
As a young child, Carole Horton always liked the feel of coins. She would rub her thumb across their surface and wonder where they had been. When she was about three years old, her older sister convinced her to trade all of her shiny coins for all of her sister's darker ones. Carole traded her nickels, dimes and quarters for more of her sister's pennies-and had no idea she was giving away more than she was getting! Today, Carole collects pennies to make art pieces and murals, one of which used over 6,000 pennies. She loves to explore the Royal Canadian Mint, spend time at the lake, draw, journal, and sketch. With a full-time job, volunteering, curling, golfing, vacationing, and renovating her home, it's amazing she has time for anything else. But somehow she also finds the time to write invention ideas down in her notebook, and write her own comedy skits. Carole lost her mother when she was young, and was part of a blended family of seven. That was her inspiration for the blended Coin family and their bevvy of children. Carole lives in Timmins, in Northern Ontario, with her husband David. Her children, Savannah and Mackenzie, are twins who have moved out and are off on their own adventures.
