Born in Big Spring, Texas, Cary C Banks has been a songwriter, musician and music educator in the Texas Music scene for over five decades. As a member of the Maines Brothers Band, he was inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame and has performed all over the globe with such notable artists as The Dixie Chicks, Barbara Mandrell, Bo Diddley, Terry Allen, Joe Ely and Linda Ronstadt. His songs have been recorded by the Maines Brothers Band, Jerry Jordan, Floyd Brown and many others. He was Professor of Music and Chairman of the Creative Arts Department at South Plains College until his retirement in 2016. He has recorded four albums of both original songs and cover material, including a guitar instrumental tribute to songwriter Jimmy Webb, called " Guitar Out In The Rain" .
