This textbook imparts a firm understanding of the behavior of prestressed concrete and how it relates to design based on the 2014 ACI Building Code. It presents the fundamental behavior of prestressed concrete and then adapts this to the design of structures. The book focuses on prestressed concrete members including slabs, beams, and axially loaded members and provides computational examples to support current design practice along with practical information related to details and construction with prestressed concrete. It illustrates concepts and calculations with Mathcad and EXCEL…mehr
It illustrates concepts and calculations with Mathcad and EXCEL worksheets. Written with both lucid instructional presentation as well as comprehensive, rigorous detail, the book is ideal for both students in graduate-level courses as well as practicing engineers.
Dr. H. R. (Trey) Hamilton, PE, Ph.D. is Professor in the Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering at University of Florida. His research interests include structural concrete and masonry, behavior and design of prestressed, concrete and masonry structures, fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites, use of FRP composites to repair and strengthen concrete and masonry structures, durability and evaluation of existing bridge and building structures, and evaluate effect of environment on the structural integrity of bridge and building structures. He earned his PhD at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Charles Dolan is Professor and H. T. Person Chair of Engineering at the University of Wyoming. He has designed and managed projects totaling $100 million in constructed cost over a 10-year period and established the Canadian Subsidiary of ABAM Engineers. He served as project manager for Detroit Downtown People Mover Guideway, project engineer and resident engineer on the Dallas Fort Worth Airport People Mover Guideway and the Walt Disney World Monorail, and developed transit alternatives for airport access in Caracas, Venezuela and guideway concepts for the Canadian Advanced Light Rail Transit system. The author/editor of eight books, he earned his PhD at Cornell University.
