The concept of modern horticultural technologies has widened the horizon of vegetable industry in India. Now-a-days, it is not only a question of providing enough vegetables for a balance diet, but also to produce quality vegetables throughout the year that are acceptable and competitive in international market. But due to erratic behavior of weather, the crops grown in open conditions are generally exposed to varying levels of temperature, humidity, wind flow etc., which ultimately influence the productivity of a crop extensively. The protected cultivation can overcome such climate diversity efficiently and simultaneously fulfills the requirements of vegetable growers in terms of manifold increase in yield as well as quality of the produce as per the demand of the market. Adoption of protected farming methods for crop cultivation was made easier for farmers by providing financial assistance and mass awareness created about the technology by National boards and schemes such as NHB, NHM and RKVY. We sincerely hope that this book would definitely serve the purpose of students who are keen interested in this relevant investigation.
