The problem faced by the present local government system in Nigeria was largely inherited from our colonial past and finally. The study established the fact that by the time Britain transferred power to Nigerians on 1st October, 1960. The Division was no longer an expression of geography, but a reality of history. This book is highly recommended for under-graduates and post-graduate students and researchers that are interested in the study of Igbo history.

Dr. Chiedozie Atuonwu is a Lecturer in the History Unit, College of General and Communication Studies, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. He also has a Post-Gradaute Diploma in Terrorism Studies and Certificates in Conflict Analysis, Inter-faith Conflict Resolution and Negotiation and Conflict Management from St. Andrew University.
