Clinton Richardson is the author of Venture Smarts: Street Smart Counsel for Entrepreneurs (release date May 7, 2024) as well as The Venture Magazine Complete Guide to Venture Capital (1987) and a series of Growth Company Guides (1993 through 2013). His writings benefit from his 40+ years of experience as a business attorney. His legal practice included representing entrepreneurs, private and public companies, venture capital investors, and investment bankers. Clinton has also served in senior management in two large law firms, one an AMLAW 100 firm with more than 500 attorneys. He co-founded and serves as director emeritus of the oldest and largest trade association for venture capital and private equity investors in the Southeastern United States - the Southern Capital Forum. The son of an entrepreneur, Mr. Richardson has also served on the boards of venture-backed companies and made angel investments. He obtained his law degree from Duke University and his undergraduate degree in economics from Albion College. He and his work have appeared in Entrepreneur, Venture magazine, and other business publications.
